Coimbatore is well-connected by rail to all major cities. Several long-distance trains especially to Kerala pass through the city.
Coimbatore has 3 stations - Coimbatore Junction (the main station), Coimbatore North, a small station where only some trains stop and Podanur junction where
trains to and from Kerala and some long distance trains stop. It is about 8 kms from the main station. However if your train stops there, -no problem - you can
alight and catch a taxi or autorickshaw.

Coimbatore is on the National Highways 47, 65 and 209. It is well connected by road to all major cities of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Travel withih Coimbatore
Travel within the city is quite easy. Call taxis are the easiest. They are clean, well-maintained and just a phone call away. Most importantly, they
charge only by the meter - though night rates may be marginally higher.
Buses are plenty, clean, run well and connect all parts of the city. However if you are in a hurry, dont try it as traffic can be maddening at times.
Another quick and easy mode of travel is the ubiquitous Autorickshaw, the backbone of travel in Coimbatore. However, beware of rates - they rarely
run by the meter and rates are astronomical (as compared to Mumbai or Chennai). Fix the amount before you climb in and ask someone the approximate cost.
